Ax hovers over food stamp program as costs grow
Sun May 19, 2013
The use of the EBT cards has eliminated much of the fraud, as opposed to paper food stamps that changed hands so many times. I recall a lady in a store parking lot approaching people to buy her alcohol in exchange of grocery items for them on her EBT card. Some qualify for cash benefits as well on E …
Task force recommends building new school at site of Sandy Hook massacre
Sat May 11, 2013
Tear down a perfectly good building? A waste of materials and resources that doesn't solve anything. Sure it was a horrible tragedy, but get past it. This was sickening to read - what a wasteful society to even consider anything of the sort!
'Worst' smog ever hitting Beijing, environmentalists say
Sun Jan 13, 2013
China's rampant industrialization is an atrocity against their people and environment. What for, so they can have a so-called higher standard of living and more money and cars and s t u f f? Not worth it. Mother earth first.
Elementary school massacre: 20 children among 28 killed in Connecticut slaughter
Sat Dec 15, 2012
Here we go again with the anti-gun fanaticism. I grew up with guns in the house and will always own at least one for protection. It's been proven that in banning guns crime accelerates. These violent crimes show a deeper underlying problem with this society; one of hopelessness, desperation, lack of …
Not 'crazy cat ladies': Hoarding gets new diagnosis
Sat Dec 8, 2012
Hoarding is pathological collecting and I've never personally known anyone like this. Have known many collectors, and those with messy basements, yards and garages full of "stuff" they just can't seem to part with. To me, that's what flea markets are for.
Judge's unusual order to man with nine kids: Stop procreating
Wed Dec 5, 2012
Smart judge. I also agree with mandatory sterilization in cases as extreme as this. Some folks should just not be out there procreating.
'Bow and arrow-type' attack leaves 3 dead in Casper, Wyo., including 2 in college classroom, officials say
Fri Nov 30, 2012
Oh yeah, right, Mat11. Let's have absolutely no weapons, and no way to defend ourselves or hunt. Outrageous. I sure hope you are joking.
Happy Halloween! Now let's talk holiday shopping
Wed Oct 31, 2012
Already articles about holiday shopping. Sickening. The same old ritual, again.
The doggone truth: Spending on pets is soaring
Wed Oct 24, 2012
There are plenty of us that love animals, but we don't happen to have deep pockets. Mine get the very basics, and they're happy and healthy. I see nothing wrong with buying Iams for example, if one can afford that. With vets anymore, it's all about the money. Everybody seems to charge high prices to …
Meteor chunk falls on Calif. home
Mon Oct 22, 2012
Interesting story. I had an experience about one month ago at about ten in the morning. I was sitting outside having coffee (no it wasn't spiked), and I heard something above that didn't sound like a plane. I looked up and saw a rock-like object maybe 50 feet or more above my head (I'm not a great j …
